Sun Cellular is stepping up moves to convert more people from traditional mobile phones to smart phones.

Sun Cellular’s Vice President for Postpaid Marketing Joan Corpus Dueñas says the PLDT mobile phone subsidiary will do this through more attractive entry-level subscription packages offering Android handsets that they will roll-out for the remainder of the year.

“After providing them with the power of voice some ten years ago when we introduced unlimited calls and texts to the market, it is now time for the majority of mobile phone users to experience internet mobility at price points that fit their budget,” says Dueñas.

Sun Cellular, after the successful and well-received SunDroid Rush series which offers bundled Android smartphones and tablets, will now offer an enhanced line of smartphones under the Sun Plan 350.

This includes the Alcatel One Touch Soleil and the MyPhone A848G that both run on the latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Operating System (OS) and the Cherry Mobile Burst with the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS.

These offers highlight the affordability and convenience of mobile browsing and multitasking smartphones for as low as P350 per month.

“Similar to the vision that we had for the SunDroid Rush series, our goal here is to introduce more affordable Android smartphone choices to more Filipinos and encourage them to be connected with the rest of the world through mobile internet technology,” Dueñas enthuses.

Dueñas added that these new smartphones under its best-selling Plan 350 line-up come with dual-core technology and 4-inch wide screens which allow for a more powerful browsing performance and an optimized display for content and graphics.

“These emerging brands are rapidly becoming a favorite among many mobile phone users,” adds Dueñas.

Aside from the renowned unlimited call and text offer of the Sun Plan 350, Sun Cellular now provides a “tri-net” alternative, which comes with unlimited texts to Sun, Smart and Talk ‘n Text and unlimited calls to Sun.

These profile choices work best when combined with “Sun iPlans” or mobile internet add-on plans which are offered as low as P55 per month and P799 per month for unlimited data.

These iPlans are equipped with the Sun-pioneered Anti-Bill Shock technology which caps the bill at a certain amount and prevents excessive data charges.

Following its integration into the PLDT Group, Sun Cellular has been securing strategic network synergies and large-scale optimization efforts to further enhance its 3G network coverage nationwide.

Sun Cellular is a member of the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. Group.
