Early this year, Sun Cellular has partnered with Twitter as the first-ever Philippine brand to use the Promoted Products suite to connect to its subscribers online. The suite consists of Promoted Tweets, Promoted Trends and Promoted Accounts.
Promoted Tweets are like ordinary tweets that are displayed within a user’s timeline. Likewise, Promoted Trends act like any other trending topics but appear on the top of Trending Topics list. Both platforms are purchased by advertising partners and are clearly labeled as “promoted”.
A game changer in the industry, Sun Cellular utilized the Promoted Tweets and Promoted Trends to advertise – aptly – its Name Ur Number SIM which is the first-in-the-country product that lets prepaid subscribers choose their own mobile number for free.
Sample Promoted Tweets with Promoted Trend (#NameUrNumberSIM) were: “It's time to pick your own number with SUN Prepaid's #NameUrNumberSim! See you at The Sun Shop!” and “Now’s the chance to pick your own number! 0942 8 FAMOUS? 0942 8 ROCKER? Easy with SUN Prepaid's #NameUrNumberSim available na nationwide!”
Sun Cellular and Twitter’s launch campaign ran for several weeks and proved to be an effective way for the network to connect to its subscribers online.
